2. Where is the nuclear waste coming from?

OPG is planning to construct a deep geologic repository (DGR) that would permanently store up to 400, 000 cubic meters of low and intermediate level radioactive waste produced from the operation of the Bruce, Pickering, and Darlington nuclear generating stations. This waste has been temporarily stored at the Western Waste Management Facility (WWMF), adjacent to the proposed site for the DGR.
